Donations Needed! Please Remember Homeless Pets This Holiday Season!

Dog, cat, kitten, and puppy food needed for rescued pets in foster care. We can also use cat litter. Pet treats make a wonderful gift for homeless cats and dogs. When doing your shopping this holiday season, please pick up an item or two for pets in need. Need an idea of items to buy? If so, click here for a list of things we normally use. Or, you can also download a simple list of brands and types of items we use. Thank you!

You can label your items for Acadiana Humane Society and donate at the following locations:

    • Petco on Louisiana Ave. Bring to an adoption event, or leave with a store employee.

    • Bridge Storage on Ambassador Caffery. A donation box is in the lobby. Or, leave with Linda on Tuesdays through Fridays.

This is how I heard YOUR day was going....
First you had trouble getting out of bed

    You had a stiff neck

You washed your hair and couldn't do a thing with it

Your new diet really doesn't seem to be working out

You pulled a muscle when you tried to exercise

Your new hat looked better on you at the store

    You keep losing things

You got caught in the rain at lunchtime

Then the lunch you had didn't seem to agree with you

    You feel trapped

Uninvited guests showed up at dinnertime

On top of that you think you're coming down with the flu

And finally, you're alone in the house at night when you think you hear
    a noise in the basement

    MAYBE TOMORROW WILL BE BETTER!!
    Thought for the Day

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away.

    Fall out
Lots of wind in the last 24 hours.  I have always believed that this was Mother Nature's way of cleaning off the trees from a majority of leaves.

Next week is Veterans Day, sort of the official start to the Christmas shopping season.

Things are starting to look up on the employment front.  I am seeing jobs in my sphere of influence, so hopefully, someone will realize that I am worth hiring.  I have this small suspicion that one of my references is not giving out a good picture of me.   So let's see if changing who I use for a reference will help.

    Because my talent hasn't changed.

    Man I am so stoked
I think I posted about setting up phonetray free on my computer and it seems to be working great :) I was getting at least 7 calls a day from 2 numbers that kept calling me about political b.s. :( Well I set phonetray free to intercept the calls from those numbers and play a disconnected message when they call.

Well now after 2 days they are no longer calling me which is great. If I would have known how well this worked I would have tried it ages ago if I knew about it then :)

Also windows 7 rocks and sage tv is working great with it :) I am still waiting for Asus to ship out my windows 7 dvds so I can upgrade the new computer.

I find myself falling behind on my tv watching as I have about 8 shows piled up on my dvr :P Things are going well here so far even if it did snow the other day :P

You never know what a person feels…
...until you have to go through the same fears.

Been watching the news today about the shooting at Fort Hood. My cousin and her family live there, as her husband is an MP. Normally, I would watch and feel sorrow for the families of the victim and even the shooters family. But I was always disconnected. No one I know has ever been involved or near any of these events.

But now I know. Seeing the fear that was coming through loud and clear on my cousin's facebook because her phone had died and she couldn't reach her husband and children. Not knowing where they were can crush a soul. Fortunately, my cousin was able to get through to her husband using facebook. They are all separated at this time. She's in an office building that is locked down, he's at home and both their children are locked down at school. The fears that were felt by myself and my family have lessened, but our sadness for the lives lost and injured are quite strong. I'm sure my cousin and husband knew at least one of the victims.

    How heartbreaking this is.

    Elections in Bellingham
Looks like a friend of mine is about to lose in her election to be a Bellingham alderman.  The fellow running against her had significant amounts of money backing his candidacy.

She also failed to pay a traffic ticket at the wrong time. Not that that should make any difference to people voting.

Looks like R71, the partnership amendment is passing.  I-1033 is failing, which is good.

I missed my usual first Tuesday activity for a friend's party.  The party was a touch on the disappointing side -- I probably would have been happier with my usual activity.  Oh, well, there's always the munch at the end of the month and the post-fun.
